Run Flash Sites in 2021

What? You need to administer vCenter 6.5 in 2021, but the HTML5 UI only has partial functionality, and for some reason you can’t upgrade? Ignoring the fact you’ve been warned for almost two years about the retirement of flash…

Here’s the “Fix” to run flash apps after end of life in 2021.

1. Open Notepad
2. Copy/paste (change to your server URLs):

EOLUninstallDisable=1
SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0
EnableAllowList=1
AutoUpdateDisable=1
ErrorReportingEnable=1
#Examples:
AllowListUrlPattern=https://vcenter.vsphere.local
AllowListUrlPattern=:*//*.internal.priv
AllowListUrlPattern=:*//*.external.trust
AllowListUrlPattern=:*//*.public.site

1. Save As, and change Encoding to UTF-8
2. Name file mms.cfg and save it to Desktop (for now)
3. Copy file to:
   1. 32 bit Systems, %WINDIR%\System32\Macromed\Flash
   2. 64 bit Systems, %WINDIR%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
   3. Chrome (Default profile), %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\System
4. Restart browser and enjoy your out of date flash app.
